We recognise that a significant amount of thought has often gone into an idea or ambition before an architect becomes involved. It could be a growing family, a new business, a different stage of life, or the opportunity to build something that has been planned for years. From the moment we become involved, our role is to listen carefully, appreciate what matters most, and bring clarity to the decisions that follow.

Trueform Architects is a design-led practice based between Wellington and Hawke’s Bay, working on projects throughout New Zealand.
We create architecture that responds carefully to the people who use it, the landscapes it sits within, and the realities of how buildings are constructed, lived in, and experienced over time. Our work is guided by a belief that successful projects come from shared understanding, clear communication, and thoughtful decision-making at every stage of the process.
We are drawn to projects that value simplicity, longevity, material honesty, and a strong connection to place. Rather than pursuing excess, we believe in creating environments that are well resolved, functional, and designed to support everyday life for years to come.
Whether residential or commercial, our aim is to create architecture that feels considered, enduring, and quietly embedded within its surroundings.

People
Every project begins with people, how they live, what they value, and the routines and relationships that shape everyday life. We listen carefully to uncover what matters most, creating spaces that feel personal, purposeful, and deeply connected to those who inhabit them.
Place
Our environment offers both cues and constraints. We take time to observe and understand each site’s character, its light, landform, climate, and context, creating architecture that resonates with the land and feels embedded in its surroundings.
Potential
Every brief and every site holds possibility. We work to reveal each project’s potential, not just resolving challenges, but identifying opportunities for beauty, efficiency, connection, and lasting value through well-considered design.
Process
Design is a shared journey. We foster a collaborative environment from the outset, valuing input from clients, consultants, contractors, and craftspeople alike. Through open dialogue, careful guidance, and honest problem-solving, we develop each project with clarity, respect, and purpose.
Presence
We aim to create architecture with a quiet sense of presence, spaces that feel calm, balanced, and enduring. Beyond aesthetics, we consider how a place is experienced over time: how it supports daily life, shapes atmosphere, and fosters a lasting sense of comfort and belonging.

Hi, I’m George, founder of Trueform Architects.
I grew up on a farm in rural Hawke’s Bay, surrounded by open landscapes and a close-knit community. It’s where I learned the value of working together, caring for what we have, and taking pride in creating something lasting. Those early years continue to inform the way I approach architecture today.
My upbringing gave me a practical mindset and a curiosity about how things fit together. From a young age, I was either out on the farm or in the workshop, building things and working on my motocross bike before the next race. These days, life outside the studio is spent exploring, travelling, and seeking new adventures with friends and family. Staying connected to people, the outdoors, and new experiences continues to influence the way I think about architecture and everyday living.
Over time, I’ve come to realise that architecture is rarely about buildings alone. More often, it is about helping people navigate a change in their lives. The most rewarding projects are those where the architecture responds to the people behind them, their circumstances, aspirations, and the things that matter to them.
I’m a New Zealand Registered Architect with an approach that balances design, practical problem-solving, and strong working relationships throughout the design and construction process. My role is to listen carefully, ask the right questions, and help guide the decisions that take a project from its earliest ideas through to completion.
For me, architecture is about creating environments that feel calm, purposeful, and built to last. It is also about making the process feel clear, collaborative, and enjoyable for the people involved.
If you’re planning a project and think we might be a good fit, get in touch. We’d love to hear about it.
